The Taste of Medicine website has been designed to help young students learn more about the careers available in Medicine and Healthcare. It is has been developed with year 9 students in mind, given the importance we place on educational engagement and high academic performance from a young age. However it is also the case that many teachers have found it a useful resource with a range of other cohorts.
Listed below are some hints and tips on how to make the best use of this website with your class. You are of course under no obligation to use these lesson plans, but they have been identified through our testing of the site in a number of different schools as effective ways of raising awareness and aspiration levels among school pupils.
In our testing with local schools, we have found the Taste of Medicine website works very well with the following groups (noting that this list is not exhaustive):
- Year 8 and 9 Gifted and Talented cohorts
- Year 8, 9 and 10 AimHigher cohorts
- Individual year 9 and 10 Science classes
- Individual year 9, 10 and 11 Health and Social Care classes
- Full year group assembly (year 9 and/or 10)
